Vegetable oils are one of the main ingredients used by many Iranian consumers for preparing food. In fact, they are one of the key items included in household basket.
Following studies on the health effects of oils and fats, researchers have found that olive oil is the best option for cooking, as it even helps with weight loss and energy boost.
However, the consumption of this healthy food is very low in Iran. Per capita consumption of olive oil is estimated at 200 grams, less than half of the global average of 500 grams. Olive oil’s lower consumption is mainly due to its relatively high price.
Statistics say cooking oils account for up to 15% of food waste in Iran due to their packaging size or design.
With that in mind, olive oil spray has been introduced to Iran’s market to allow its controlled use.
Thanks to this new packaging, three spritzes of the spray dispenses only one gram of the oil. The product gives consumers the opportunity to curtail their calorie intake and help reduce food waste, while encouraging the use of olive oil.
