Two-thirds of all passenger fleets were suspended in the six-day lockdown from August 16 to 21 due to the new surge in Covid-19 infections and fatalities, the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran’s spokesperson said.
"All airlines are required to notify passengers and refund the tickets sold to passengers,” Mohammad Hassan Zibakhsh was also quoted as saying by Fars News Agency.
The measure pertaining to public transportation vehicles, including planes, trains, buses and suburban cars, was taken on the order of the National Coronavirus Headquarters, IRNA reported.
