Non-oil exports from Bushehr Province stood at 8.81 million tons worth $2.95 billion in the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 21-July 22), registering a 12% and 83% growth in weight and value respectively, according to an official with Bushehr Customs Administration.
“From the total exports, 75,000 tons worth $39.05 million belonged to gas condensate,” Behrouz Qareh-Beigi was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
Pars Special Economic Energy Zone with 81% of total exports in terms of weight and 92% in terms of value had the highest volume of exports during the period.
China, the UAE, Turkey, Pakistan, India, South Africa, Brazil, Qatar and Taiwan were Bushehr’s main export destinations.
The exported products included methanol, liquefied petroleum gas, urea, polyethylene, sulfur and agricultural products.
Imports to this province stood at 102,000 tons worth $299 million during the same period. The imported goods mainly included banana, cereals, textile and car and motorcycle manufacturing parts that came from China, the UAE, Philippines, India, Russia, Canada and Italy.
Twelve industrial parks and eight industrial zones are operating in Bushehr Province.
Bushehr is one of the important ports of Persian Gulf, which has an international airport and highways that connect the city to Ahvaz and Shiraz. A secondary coastal road also links Bushehr to Bandar Abbas.
The southern port of Bushehr has the capacity to handle more than 7 million tons of goods per year and can host vessels of over 30,000 tons.
Iran’s total foreign trade stood at 145.7 million tons worth $73 billion in the last Iranian year (March 2020-21), of which 25.05 million tons worth $8.42 billion were carried out via Bushehr Province’s customs terminals.
“Bushehr Province’s customs had a 16.6% and 11% share in weight and value of Iran’s overall foreign trade during the period respectively,” Qareh-Beigi was quoted as saying by IRNA.
The official noted that more than 24.56 million tons of goods were exported from Bushehr’s customs and some 482,000 tons were imported in return over the period under review.
According to the head of Bushehr Ports and Maritime Organization, a total of 45 million tons of commodities were loaded and unloaded at Bushehr Province’s ports last year.
“Oil and non-oil products accounted for 34.19 million tons and 10.36 million tons of the total sum respectively,” Siyavash Arjomandzadeh added.
The official noted that container loading and unloading in Bushehr’s ports reached 209,847 TEUs.
“Some 6,552 vessels entered the province’s ports, 1,850 of which weighed over 1,000 tons. Moreover, 237,000 passengers were transported through these ports, 118,000 of whom were incoming and 119,000 were outgoing,” he said.
