Sistan-Baluchestan Exports Near $480m Since March 21

A total of 1.51 million tons of goods worth $478.99 million have been exported from Sistan-Baluchestan Province since the beginning of the current fiscal year on March 21.

The exported goods were mainly shipped via Zahedan, Mirjaveh, Milak, Chabahar and free-trade zone customs terminals as well as Pishin, Gamshad, Kuhak, Jaleq and Rimdan-e Bankul border markets, Mohammad Ali Khashi, a local official, was quoted as saying by IRNA on August 7.

Cement, clinker, date, gas, coriander seeds and other agricultural products were the main exported goods.

Pakistan, Afghanistan, Oman and the UAE were the main export destinations.

A total of 640,217 tons of goods worth $328.69 million have been imported to the province during the same period, registering a 17% decline in terms of weight and a 6% growth in terms of value.

Rice, wheat, corn and barley, mango, sesame, spare parts, tangerine, livestock and agricultural products were among the most important imported goods.

The imports mainly came from Russia, Germany, Denmark, Pakistan, India, the UAE and China.

Exports from Sistan-Baluchestan Province’s border crossings Milak and Mirjaveh stood at 300,288 tons that were transported by 13,261 trucks in the fiscal 2021-22, registering a 78% growth in weight and 93% growth in number of trucks, according to the director general of the province’s Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, Ayyoub Kord.

Liquefied petroleum gas, hydrocarbons, bitumen, food products, gasoline and diesel were the main exported products.

Sistan-Baluchestan is Iran’s largest province with an area of 187,502 sq km, which accounts for 11.5% of the total area of the country. It has 1,100 kilometers of land border with Pakistan and Afghanistan, and 310 kilometers of coastline with the Sea of Oman. It has a favorable climate for cultivating tropical fruits, as well as a variety of mines, including those of copper, chromium, manganese, titanium, gold and antimony.

The province also enjoys easy access to Central Asian countries through Chabahar and Konarak ports, two major free ports in the province that facilitate international trade.
