Exports from Semnan Province stood at 78,000 tons worth $96 million during the first four months of the current fiscal year (March 21-July 22), registering an 11.5% and 79% growth in weight and value respectively year-on-year.
According to Director General of Semnan Province Customs Administration Ali Saad al-Din, 31 countries were the destination of exports from Semnan.
“More than 60% of Semnan Province's exports headed to Iraq, Afghanistan and Turkey,” he added.
Light and heavy hydrocarbons, detergent and cleansers, cement, ceramic tile, wire and cable as well as disposable dishes were the main exports from among a total of 38 types of products exported from the province, IRNA reported.
Semnan exported goods to 49 countries, registering a significant growth in the fiscal 2020-21.
“More than 260,000 tons of goods worth $332 million were exported from this province last year, registering a 34% year-on-year growth in value,” IRNA quoted Ali Teshnedel, the head of Semnan Industries, Mining and Trade Organization, as saying.
The exports included refined lead ingots, caustic soda, disodium carbonate, disposable products, light hydrocarbons, cables, silicon, water coolers, washing powder, iron and steel parts and components, fluff and wool, ceramics, sweets and chocolate.
Iraq, Turkey, India, Armenia, Hong Kong, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, the UAE, Indonesia, Ukraine, Vietnam and Azerbaijan were among the main destinations.
The average value of each ton of exported goods stood at $1,248, registering a 40% growth compared with the previous year.
According to Saad Al-Din, the province earned 379.95 billion rials ($15 million) in customs revenues during the period to register a 12% rise compared with the previous year.
Semnan is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It covers an area of 96,816 square kilometers and stretches along the Alborz mountain range and borders Dasht-e Kavir desert in its southern parts.
The province is situated 216 kilometers east of the capital Tehran.
With over 2,020 production units, it is considered an Iranian industrial hub.
