Unemployment rate for university graduates stood at 13.4% in the first quarter of the current Iranian year (March 21-June 21), posting a 0.1% decrease compared with last year’s corresponding period.
Higher education unemployment rate for men stood at 9.4% and that of women stuck around 22.4%, according to the Statistical Center of Iran.
The share of higher education unemployment from the total unemployed population was 40.3% in Q1, which indicate an increase of 4.3% year-on-year.
The shares of unemployed male and female graduates from the total unemployed population stood at 27.7% and 71%, respectively, while the share of higher education unemployment from the total unemployed population was 43.2% in urban areas and 27.3% in rural areas during the period.
Overall unemployment rate, the proportion of jobless population of ages 15 and above, stood at 8.8% in Q1, indicating a 1% decline year-on-year.
A total of 2,291,604 Iranians were unemployed in Q1. Men’s unemployment stood at 7.5% while the rate for women hovered around 15.6%.
Over 1.62 million men and 669,346 women of ages 15 and above were jobless in Q1.
