Handmade carpet exports stood at 366.9 tons worth $4.8 million in the first two months of fiscal 2021-22 (March 21-May 21), registering a 275.1% and 84% growth in weight and value respectively compared with the previous year’s corresponding period during which 97.8 tons worth $2.6 million were exported, according to statistics released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration.
From the total exports, 214.4 tons worth $2.7 million was registered in the second fiscal month (April 21-May 21), registering a 155% and 28.5% growth year-on-year, Fars News Agency reported.
Latest data on production released by Director of Iran National Carpet Center Farahnaz Rafe’ show Iran’s handwoven carpet output saw a 34% increase during the first 10 months of last Iranian year (March 20, 2020-Jan. 21) compared with the similar period of the preceding year.
