Industrial, Mining Projects Worth $140m Inaugurated

President Hassan Rouhani inaugurated via videoconference several industrial and mining projects worth 35,770 billion rials ($140 million) on Thursday. 
The steel ingot project of Yazd’s Pars Butyle Company, tile and ceramic manufacturing project of Javaher Yazd Tile Company in Ashkezar, Yazd Province, and tobacco processing project of JTI Pars in Soltanieh, Zanjan Province were among the new projects.
Sulfuric acid transfer, storage and export project in Kerman and Bandar Abbas; slaked and hydrated lime factory in Ahar, East Azarbaijan Province; and pelletizing project for direct reduced iron production at Ardakan Steel Complex Company in Yazd were also launched on Thursday. 
The newly-inaugurated projects are expected to create jobs for 881 people, IRNA reported. 
President Rouhani said Iran’s industrial sector saw 7% growth in the last fiscal year (March 2020-21) while many other countries registered negative growth and the world economic growth stood at -3%. 
“The 9% economic growth registered by the industrial sector in the fiscal Q4 (Dec. 21, 2020-March 20) resulted in the country’s 3.6% economic growth last year,” he added.
