Passengers travel to the neighboring Iraq from the western Kurdestan Province’s Marivan border crossing has been banned up until June 5 to prevent the spread of Covid-19, although trade activities will continue, the political, security and social affairs deputy with the province’s Governorate said.
“Initially, the travel ban from Marivan Checkpoint was placed on March 24 and extended several times as the coronavirus situation in the two countries has not improved,” Mohammad Ebrahim Zarei was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
Zarei noted that Iraqi transit truck drivers will not be allowed into the province until the ban is lifted.
