Track-Laying Crane, Carrier Unveiled

A rail track-laying crane and its dual-purpose carrier, which can be used on both railroads and roads, have been manufactured for the first time in Iran by Paya Saman Pars Company, a subsidiary of Mostazafan Foundation.
“A total of 60 billion rials [$262,000] were invested in the manufacture of these mechanized rail equipment by local designers and experts,” Majid Shahsavari, company’s CEO, was quoted as saying by IRNA.
The official noted that to purchase the equipment from abroad, it would have cost more than €1.5 million.
“The project for becoming self-sufficient in manufacturing these products began around two years ago and the track-laying crane and carrier are currently at work in the construction of Mianeh-Ardabil railroad project,” he added.
Mostazafan Foundation (a foundation for the oppressed and disabled established in 1979) is the largest charity and the second-largest conglomerate in Iran.
