E. Azarbaijan Agrifood Exports at $280 Million

Agrifood exports from East Azarbaijan Province stood at $280 million in the last Iranian year (March 2020-21), according to the head of the province’s Agricultural Organization.
“Our main exported goods were raisins, apples, dairy products such as milk, cheese and yogurt drink, day-old chickens, eggs, food products, including tomato paste and fruit juice, in addition to vegetables like onions, potatoes, lettuce and cabbage,” Akbar Fat’hi was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
The official noted that raisins and apples, with 66% and 15% of the total sum respectively, topped the list of East Azarbaijan’s agrifood exports.  
“These products were mainly shipped to Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Russia, India, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan Republic, Armenia and the UAE.”
East Azarbaijan Province has 1.22 million hectares of farmlands and orchards, 800,000 hectares of which are rain-fed and the remaining 420 hectares are irrigated. The province produces close to 5 million tons of agricultural products every year.
