SCI on Lightweight Livestock in Q4

The number of lightweight livestock increased by 7.3 million head in the fourth quarter of last Iranian year (Dec. 21, 2020-March 20) compared with the corresponding period of the year before, the Statistical Center of Iran reported.
There were 53.9 million head of sheep and lambs as well as 18.3 million goats and goat kids at the country’s livestock farms in the month ending March 20, indicating an increase of 11.8% in the number of sheep and lambs, and an increase of 9.7% in the number of goats and goat kids compared with the same period of the year before. 
A total of 13 million lambs and 4.1 million goat kids were born during the fourth quarter of last year. Fattening practices were conducted on 3.5 million sheep and lambs, as well as 980,000 goats and goat kids during Q4.
