A total of 96,970 tons of non-oil goods worth $115 million were exported from factories located in Semnan Province’s industrial parks and zones during the last Iranian year (March 2020-21).
“These products included different kinds of detergents, wires, cables, disposable tableware, bituminous waterproofing, tiles, ceramic and polyethylene pipes, which were exported by 17 industrial firms,” Hassan Al-e Bouyeh, director general of Semnan Industrial Parks Organization, was quoted as saying by IRNA.
The official noted that the exports took place despite trade restrictions and complications caused by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, adding that exports are expected to increase in the current Iranian year (started March 21).
Stretching along the Alborz mountain range and bordering Dasht-e Kavir desert in its southern parts, Semnan Province is one of Iran’s industrial hubs.
Situated 216 kilometers east of the capital Tehran, Semnan’s industrial parks and zones are spread over 6,884 hectares.
