Public Complaints Against Goods, Service Providers Decline

More than 240,000 public complaints were filed against goods and service providers with the industries, mining and trade organizations of Iranian provinces in the last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2021) to register a 7% decline compared with the year before.
“About 87% of the total sum pertained to providers of goods,” Abbas Tabesh, the head of Iran Consumer and Producer Protection Organization affiliated to the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade, was quoted as saying by IRNA.
“The lion’s share of these complaints pertained to goods like bread, fruit and vegetables. The remaining 13% were filed against service providers, with auto repair shops and restaurants accounting for a majority of complaints,” he added.
Tabesh noted that profiteering, selling less for more money and absence of price tags on products were the main cause of complaints.
Complaints filed in the provinces of Tehran, Khorasan Razavi, East Azarbaijan and Alborz have increased while the same declined in Semnan, North Khorasan, Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad and Khuzestan.
“Close to 88% of the complaints,” Tabesh concluded, “have been addressed and the rest are under investigation.”
Citizens may file complaints against businesses through the 124 hotline.
