A total of 349,000 tons of non-oil goods worth $178.3 million have been exported from Aran and Bidgol County in northern Isfahan Province since the beginning of last Iranian year (March 20, 2020), Amir Abbas Shakeri, a local official, said on March 15.
“Out of the overall sum, 75% were steel rebars and 24% constituted machine-made and handwoven carpet and products of related industries,” he was quoted as saying by IRNA.
According to Shakeri, Aran and Bidgol is considered Iran’s biggest carpet production hub with an annual production of around 60 million square meters.
“Our main export destinations for carpets are neighboring states like Iraq and Afghanistan, and rebars are mostly shipped to China and other East Asian countries,” he added.
Aran and Bidgol have about 800 production firms, most of which are active in the carpet industry.
