The ban on the export of soap and other cleansers have been lifted until further notice, following a recent directive issued by the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration.
Exports of soap and cleansers were banned after the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic about a year ago, IRNA reported.
Latest data show 185,000 tons of different kinds of cleansers worth $76 million were exported from Iran during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 20-Nov. 21) to register a 7% and 14% year-on-year rise in weight and value respectively.
According to Neda Ataei, an official with the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, the exports included washing powder and liquids, dishwasher tablets, disinfectant gel, liquid and bar soap, detergent concentrate, alkyl benzene sulfonate, bleach, industrial and granular detergents.
The official added that Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, China, Uzbekistan Turkey, Kazakhstan and India were Iran’s biggest export destinations for these products.
Ataei noted that demand for cleansers is on the rise in the region and Iran can increase its share of the market by using its ample production capacities.
