The Producer Price Index for the “agronomy, horticulture and traditional husbandry” group in the four-quarter period to Dec. 20, which marks the end of the third quarter of the current Iranian year, increased by 19.6% compared with the year before.
The Statistical Center of Iran reported that producer inflation in the four-quarter period leading to Sept. 21 (the previous quarter) reached 11%.
The overall PPI of this group (using 2011 as the base year) stood at 712 in Q3 (Sept. 22-Dec. 20, 2020), indicating a 47.5% increase compared with the same quarter of the year before. Year-on-year producer inflation of Q2 had increased by 23.1%.
The importance of PPI lies in its predictive content for the future pattern of Consumer Price Index. Changes in PPI are usually reflected in CPI within a short period of time.
