A trade delegation from Halabja Chamber of Commerce and Industry are expected to arrive in Iran’s Kermanshah Province on Jan. 27.
“The delegation is led by the Halabja chamber of commerce’s chairman who will be accompanied by the chamber’s board members and representatives of the Iraqi province’s business community. The mission will stay here until Friday and during their three-day stay will pay visits to local industrial sites and international exhibition. It has also been arranged for the delegation from Halabja to meet with the governor general and businesspeople,” Darioush Panahi, secretary-general of Kermanshah Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, was quoted as saying by IRNA.
Kermanshah and Halabja have two border crossings, namely Shoushemi in Paveh County and Sheikh Saleh in Salas Babajani County,
“For the same reason, the expansion of economic ties between the two sides is a priority. We will be surveying different ways of boosting our bilateral commercial and economic ties, particularly in the health tourism sector,” he said.
Kermanshah Province has a total of 371 kilometers of common borders with Central Iraq and the Iraqi Kurdistan Region. There are six border crossings and markets along this border, through which close to half of Iran’s annual non-oil exports ise shipped to the neighboring Iraq.
Iraq is Iran’s biggest export destination from among its neighboring countries.
The total value of Iran's exports to Iraq in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20-Dec. 20, 2020) was 20 million tons worth $5.9 billion, which shows a 7% increase in weight compared with the same period of last year.
The value of exports saw a 15% year-on-year decline.
