Semnan Province Exports to 46 Countries in 9 Months

A total of 188,430 tons of commodities worth $216 million were exported from Semnan Province to 46 countries during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20-Dec. 20) to register a 7% decline in tonnage but a 23% increase in value compared with the similar period of last year.
According to Ali Sa’deddin, the head of Semnan Customs Administration, light hydrocarbons, land cables, iron and steel products, sodium hydroxide, plastic products, washing machine powder and liquids, refined lead, silicon, sodium carbonate, evaporative coolers, chocolate and cakes were the main products exported from Semnan during the nine-month period, IRNA reported.
These exported products were manufactured in 85 production units in Semnan and mainly shipped to Iraq, Turkey, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Russia and India. 
The official noted that imports over the same period stood at 10,723 tons worth $47.62 million. 
“Our imports over the nine months included electric machinery and equipment; pastry, cocoa and chocolate production machinery; LCDs, transformer equipment, electrostatic converters, electricity inducers, combed cotton, propene and production line machinery and raw material, which were mainly purchased from Turkey, China, Uzbekistan, Germany, Italy, Austria, Belgium and Malaysia,” he said.
Situated 216 kilometers east of the capital Tehran, Semnan Province has 2,020 production units and is considered an Iranian industrial hub.
