Exports from the southwestern Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Province stood at $30 million during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20-Dec. 20), which marked a 35% decline compared with the similar period of last year.
According to Hassan Shamsipour, a local official, more than $22.64 million of the overall sum were exported directly from the province and the rest were exported via other customs offices across the country.
The exports mainly included food products, fish feed, carpets and other types of floorings, home appliances, honey, dairy products, cast iron, iron and rebars, IRNA reported.
Iraq, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Romania and Turkey were the main destinations.
Shamsipour explained that the decline in exports was due to the Covid-19 pandemic as well as intensified unilateral US economic sanctions against Iran.
A total of $4.86 million worth of commodities were imported into the province during the same period, registering a 74% decline compared with last year’s corresponding period.
Industrial production line machinery and their spare parts were among the main imports.
China, Germany, Italy, Poland and the UAE were the main source of imports to this province.
