A total of 1.4 million tons of commodities were loaded and unloaded in Hormozgan Province’s eastern ports during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20-Dec. 20), showing a 13% rise compared with the similar period of last year.
“Exports from these ports included different kinds of fruits and vegetables, dairy products and construction materials,” Morteza Salari, a local official, was quoted as saying by IRNA.
Salari noted that with the expansion of port facilities in Hormozgan, over the past few years, 90% of the province’s agricultural exports are carried out using refrigerated containers.
Shaid Bahonar is the busiest port in the east of Hormozgan. Other ports located in the east side of this southern province are Shahid Haqqani, Hormuz, Tiab, Sirik and Jask.
