Nurses received more than 55 trillion rials ($220 million) in merit pay in the last fiscal month (ended Nov. 20), says Mohammad Baqer Nobakht, the head of Plan and Budget Organization. 
“The government permitted the Ministry of Health and Medical Education to employ 23,000 nurses early this year and another 30,000 in the middle of the year,” he was quoted as saying by IRNA. 
According to Maryam Hazrati, an official with the ministry, nurses saw their salaries increase by 50% in the Iranian month ending Feb. 19, salaries of contract nurses has also risen by 40%. 
“Overdue, unpaid wages of temporary nurses have decreased from 18 months to four months,” she said.
