    $73m in Loans for Cultural, Art Centers

    Loans worth 19 trillion rials ($73 million) will be paid to cultural and art centers impacted by the new coronavirus, Vice President for Economic Affairs Mohammad Nahavandian says. 

    “Publishers, bookstores, producers of audiovisual works and cultural centers active in Qur’anic and religious studies will be eligible for the financial support. Applicants have until Jan. 19, 2021, to register for the loans and delegated banks are tasked to pay the same by March 20, 2021. Borrowers will get a three-month breather and the repayment period will start as of May 22, 2021, which marks the start of the Iranian month Khordad,” he was quoted as saying by IRNA. 

    According to a statement by the Central Bank of Iran, out of 533,752 businesses that registered at Kara.mcls.gov.ir and were introduced to the banks to receive government-backed coronavirus financial support, a total of 365,841 businesses (70% of the total) have received their loans as of Nov. 30.
