Semnan Province Exports Reach $155m in Seven Months

A total of 140,000 tons of commodities worth $155 million were exported from Semnan Province to 42 countries during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 20-Sept. 21), showing a 14% rise in value compared with the similar period of last year, according to the province’s Industries, Mining and Trade Organization’s deputy for commercial affairs.
“A total of 75 types of commodities were exported from Semnan, including sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, light hydrocarbons, silicon, cables, swamp coolers, disposable products, washing machine powder, chocolate and pastry, as well as iron and steel parts,” Hamidreza Maddah was quoted as saying by IRNA.
Iraq, Turkey, India, Armenia, Georgia, Hong Kong, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, the UAE, Indonesia and Ukraine were the main export destinations.
A total of 7,100 tons of goods worth $30 million were imported into the province from 16 countries during the same period.
The imports mainly included automotive spare parts, equipment for electrical devices, cotton boll, transformer parts and oils, propene, static power converters and voltage regulators.
Turkey, China, Uzbekistan, Italy, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UAE were the main exporters.
Each ton of export from Semnan, according to the local official, averaged $1,104 while each ton of imported goods averaged $4,300 over the seven months. 
Stretching along the Alborz mountain range and bordering Dasht-e Kavir desert in its southern parts, Semnan Province is one of Iran’s industrial hubs.
