Mining, Academic Entities Sign 219 Deals Since March 2019

The Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) and its affiliated organizations have signed 219 research and development agreements with universities since the last Iranian year (started March 2019).
According to IMIDRO Chairman Khodadad Gharibpour, the agreements are collectively worth 858 billion rials ($3.18 million), IRNA reported.
He said IMIDRO signed 36 deals worth 142 billion rials ($526,900) with the University of Tehran, Sharif University of Technology, Tehran University of Science and Technology, Amirkabir University of Technology, Tarbiat Modares University, Shahid Beheshti University, Isfahan University of Technology, the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research and the Iranian Society of Mining Engineering.
Gharibpour added that Mobarakeh Steel Company, Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company, Sarcheshmeh Copper Investment Company, Esfahan Steel Company and Iran Minerals Production and Supply Company have respectively signed 53, 30, 28, 16 and 12 deals with academic entities. 
He noted that Sungun Copper Complex leads with 11 contracts; Iran Alumina Company comes next with 10 and Khorasan Steel Complex Company follows with 9 contracts. 
Khuzestan Steel Company, Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company and Iran Alloy Steel Company have respectively inked seven, five and two deals with Iranian universities. 
Gharibpour said the deals are aimed at strengthening ties between the industries and the academia, and developing mining fields by utilizing the potentials of universities.
