A factory producing cement and prefabricated cement parts was launched on the southern Qeshm Island via videoconferencing by President Hassan Rouhani on Sept. 10.
The private sector invested 500 billion rials ($1.9 million) in the project that is expected to produce 51,840 tons of conventional concrete, 2,430 tons of rolled steel joist and 200 tons of plain concrete, IRNA reported.
Sixty people were employed in the construction of this production unit, which has now created 30 direct jobs for the locals.
Qeshm Island is located near the southern coast of Iran’s Persian Gulf shore. It is adjacent to the port cities of Bandar Abbas and Bandar Khamir—both in Hormozgan Province. With an area of close to 1,500 square kilometers, it has a small population of around 150,000 residents.
