A total of 2 million tons of goods worth $655 million were exported from Isfahan Province to 79 countries during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 20-Aug. 21), registering a 31% and 37% decline compared with the similar period of last year.
“Cast iron, iron products and steel were the main exported products over the five-month period, accounting for 42% of the total exports, followed by petrochemicals, with 15%, hand-woven carpets with 45, chemicals with 3%. Other types of products collectively made up the remaining 28% of the province’s exported goods,” Iraj Movaffaq, the head of Isfahan Industries, Mining and Trade Organization, was quoted as saying by IRNA.
Isfahan’s main export destinations over the period were Iraq with a 29% share of total exports, followed by Afghanistan (15%), China (12%), the UAE (11%) and Pakistan (4%). The remaining destinations accounted for only 2% of the exports.
