Reception halls have suffered losses for more than seven months now due to the Covid-19 pandemic and some 90% of them have gone bankrupt, according to the head of Reception Hall Owners Union.
“So far, 60% of these businesses have filed for bankruptcy. We are not able to compensate for losses incurred anytime soon,” Khosrow Ebrahiminia was also quoted as saying by IRIB News.
After the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the government banned reception halls from holding wedding and memorial ceremonies, or any other event gathering a large number of people.
Reception halls are not allowed to charge penalties for cancellation or for changing dates following the outbreak of coronavirus, Ebrahiminia said in February.
He called on the public to file a complaint with the union, if they encounter any violation on the part of reception halls.
