On Wednesday, the Iranian Cabinet approved the June 6 decision by the Supreme Labor Council on increasing workers’ monthly housing allowance from 1 million rials [$4.38] to 3 million rials [$13.16], according to Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Minister Mohammad Shariatmadari.
"The government’s approval of the rise in workers' housing allowance is a significant measure as it does not happen every year," Deputy Cooperatives Minister Hatam Shakarami said.
“Workers’ housing allowance was raised only five times since the Islamic Revolution of 1979 because governments are not legally bound to raise housing allowance annualy,” Fars News Agency reported.
