The railroad project connecting the central province of Yazd to Fars Province in southwest Iran will come on stream by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2021), a deputy minister of roads and urban development said.
Kheirollah Khademi, who also doubles as the CEO of Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructure Company, added that the Yazd-Eqlid railroad project has made 94% progress in terms of infrastructure and 53% with regard to track laying, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development’s news portal reported.
“A total of 1.61 million cubic meters of excavation and some 7 million cubic meters of embankment have been implemented along the 271-kilometer railroad project,” he said
Khademi noted that Yazd-Eqlid railroad is a missing link in Iran's Northeast-Southwest Rail Corridor.
