The Statistical Center of Iran will introduce a new base year, i.e. fiscal 2021-22, for comparison in the measure of economic indexes, Asadollah Rezaei, a researcher with the center, says.
Given Iran’s fast changing economic conditions, the reference period must be updated faster than other economies to obtain reliable index numbers, he added.
The Central Bank of Iran would normally change the base year every 10 years.
The base year was first introduced in the fiscal 1936-37 and then updated in 1959-60, 1969-70, 1974-75, 1990-91, 1997-98, 2004-5 and 2011-12...
