A total of 21,900 tons of red meat were produced in Iran during the month ending April 19 to register a 2% rise compared with the similar month of the year before.
The Statistical Center of Iran's latest report shows beef accounted for 12,100 tons or 55.4% of the overall production, indicating a year-on-year increase of 5%.
About 7,900 tons of lamb (down 4% YOY), 1,420 tons of goat meat (up 15% YOY) and 421 tons of meat from other types of livestock were produced during the month, accounting for 36.2%, 6.5% and 1.9% of the total output respectively, the SCI reported on its website.
Iranians consume around 920,000 tons of red meat per year, 90% of which are supplied domestically.
