The revival of 1,000 inactive mines across the country is on the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade’s agenda for the current Iranian year that started on March 20, says Deputy Minister Daryoush Esmaeili.
According to the official, Iran is home to more than 10,000 mines, around 1,400 of which are currently inactive, IRNA reported.
Chairman of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Khodadad Gharibpour says 200 small-scale mines have been planned to be revived in the current year. He noted that 146 small mines were revived last year.
