Urban Development and Revitalization Organization of Iran, affiliated to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, is planning to provide permanent housing for inhabitants of slum areas in Chabahar’s Jangaluk who lost their homes (locally known as kapar) in a fire last week.
The fire on Thursday burned 30 kapars to ashes in less than two hours there, Hibna reported.
According to Hamzeh Amirian, the director general of Sistan-Baluchestan Roads and Urban Development Organization, homes will be built for the fire-stricken people on 20 hectares of land located in Komb-e Moradabad in the Central District of Chabahar County, Sistan-Baluchestan Province, within six months.
Kapar is a sort of traditional temporary dwelling in southeastern Iran and the Baluchi areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan. A shelter of long frames, a kapar is often made of tamarisk (a type of tree) and palm trees, and has a vertical structure.
