Public Complaints Rise 21% Against Goods, Service Providers

A total of 270,000 public complaints were filed against goods and service providers with the industries, mining and trade organizations of Iranian provinces during the last fiscal year (March 2019-20), registering a 21.6% increase compared with the year before.
According to the latest report released by the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade, the lion’s share of the complaints against providers of goods were related to bread.
Profiteering, selling less for more money and giving no options to customers for the type of added ingredients to bread were the main source of complaints, ISNA reported.
These were followed by complaints about detergents and disinfectants. The increasing demand for these products following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus seems to be the main reason for the rise in public complaints.
Restaurants and auto repair shops were service centers accounting for a majority of the complaints.
Most of the complaints had profiteering and fraud at their core.
Iranian citizens can file complaints against businesses through the 124 hotline.
