The sixth round of payments to people as compensation for higher gasoline prices, in effect since November 2019, was to be made to the heads of households on Wednesday, April 29. According to the spokesperson of Plan and Budget Organization, Mehdi Qamsarian, more than 18.68 million households will have received cash transfers worth a total of 25,360 billion rials ($158.5 million) as per the so-called Livelihood Assistance Program in this round of payment, IRIB News reported. The government pays the subsidies based on households’ size: one-member families receive 550,000 rials ($3.4); 2-member 1.03 million rials ($6.4); three-member families 1.38 million rials ($8.6); 4-member households 1.72 million rials ($10.7) families and 5-member or bigger families receive 2.05 million rials ($12.8).
