A total of 23,000 public complaints were filed against goods and service providers with the industries, mining and trade organizations of Iranian provinces during the 10th month of the current Iranian year (Dec. 22, 2019-Jan. 20), an official with the Consumers and Producers Protection Organization said.
The lion’s share of complaints against providers of goods pertained to bread, fruit and vegetables, IRNA quoted the official as saying.
Intercity transportation and auto repair shops were service centers accounting for the majority of complaints.
“Some 71% of these complaints have so far been addressed,” Sajjadi said.
Most of the complaints had profiteering and missing price tags at their core.
Iranian citizens can file complaints against businesses through the hotline 124.
Mojtaba Majed, another official with the Consumers and Producers Protection Organization, said last week that the organization has prioritized eight commodities in its list of price inspections from businesses in the final weeks of the current year (ending March 19).
“These products are sugar, pulses, fruits and vegetables, tires, girders, steel sheets and rebars,” the official told Mehr News Agency.
The aim is to regulate the domestic market and balance the supply and distribution of goods in the days leading to the new Iranian year (March 20).
