Due to the surplus red meat production, there is no need for imports in the current Iranian year (March 2019-20) and the country can fully meet demand at home, says director general of the Central Union of Animal Husbandry.
"As has been the case in the past, 10% of the country’s red meat demand have been met via imports while 90% are met domestically. However, proper climate conditions and a rise in livestock breeding have provided an opportunity for the country to fully meet its red meat demand this year," Saeed Soltani was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
