The Central Securities Depositary of Iran has published a list of the biggest industries active in the capital market in terms of their trading value up until late July.
A report released on the CSDI website shows that finance securities topped the list with a total trade value of 78.38 trillion rials ($670 million).
Exchange Traded Funds was next on the list with trade value amounting to 60.01 trillion rials ($512.9 million).
ETF is a type of fund that owns underlying assets (shares, stocks, bonds, oil futures, gold bullion, and foreign currency) and divides ownership of those assets into shares.
ETFs hold multiple underlying assets rather than only one. An ETF can own hundreds or thousands of stocks across various industries, or it could be isolated to one particular industry or sector.
Chemical products, having a total trade value of 54.41trillion rials ($465.1 million), ranked third on the list.
This was followed by auto parts and the automotive industry, base metals industry, industrial contracting companies, banks and credit institutions and investment companies.
At the bottom of the list were optical medical instruments and publishing and printing industries.
