CBI Official to Attend IMF Meeting

The deputy governor of the Central Bank of Iran, Akbar Komijani, is heading a delegation which is set to travel to the United States to take part in the 2014 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group. The event will be held on October 10-12, in Washington, D.C.

The presence of the economic and banking officials in such meetings provides them with favorable opportunities for promoting banking and economic cooperation. On the sidelines of the event, Komijani is scheduled to meet with officials from central banks of other nations, according to MNA.

The Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group each year bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, civil society, and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, global financial stability, poverty eradication, jobs and growth, economic development, and aid effectiveness. The Meetings, which are widely covered by the international media, also offer an opportunity for civil society organizations to share their views and interact with policymakers in a global setting
