The Central Bank of Iran is preparing to use a new hardware for preparing its statistics that officials say would improve data collection and data analysis processes.
“The new hardware will facilitate access to economic statistics,” Peyman Ghorbani, vice governor for economic affairs said during the 36th training seminar for economic statistics.
Ghorbani said the central bank has played a significant role in data collection and generating reliable statistics in recent years. “As the main financial and monetary policymaker in the country, the CBI has played a prominent role in generating and disseminating economic statistics,” Ghorbani said, as reported by IRNA.
CBI reports are reliable sources for most communities worldwide, he noted.
The bank has recently taken a strategy to make even more precise statistics available for officials and businesses, he added.
He underlined the role of statistics in the policymaking process, saying that the CBI has been successful in analyzing massive data every month to announce year on year inflation rates, among other indicators.
But he admitted that more efforts are needed by the bank officials to further improve data collection tools and the knowledge of staff.
The 36th educational seminar for economic statistics is being held in the CBI’s training and entertainment complex in the Northern city of Nowshahr, Mazandaran, on September 27- October 1.
