Tehran Shares Monday Mixed

Tehran stocks ended mixed on Monday as large caps stumbled in choppy trade while a small caps advanced. 

The main gauge of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, pared some early losses and retreated toward the flatline as the day drew to a close. 

The market cap-weighted benchmark ended 1,052 points or 0.07% higher to end trade at 1,445,139. The index is impacted largely by large caps. 

This is while the TSE’s equal-weighted index climbed more than 0.5%, indicating better performance of small caps and penny stocks. 

A total of 396 tickers gained while 260 others closed in negative territory on Monday, representing 40% of the total. 

Retail trade dropped 8% to reach 31.27 trillion rials ($107 million). About 6.12 billion shares worth 47.13 trillion rials ($162.5m) changed hands at TSE for the day.

Paxan Corporation was the biggest winner as its shares went up 6.95% to 1,954 rials per share.

Alumrod Corporation incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 4.5% to 30,570 rials per share.

Mobarakeh Steel Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by National Iranian Copper Industries Company, Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company and Nouri Petrochemical Company.

National Development Investment Group Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index, followed by Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines Company, Parsian Oil and Gas Development Group Company and Khorasan Petrochemical Company.

 

IFX Flat

Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, closed slightly above  the flatline gaining 8.38 points or 0.04% to close Monday at  19,313.86.

About 6.03 billion shares and securities worth 1,432.96 trillion rials ($4.94 billion) were traded at the junior equities exchange for the day.

Iranian Ghadir Iron and Steel Company, Arya Sasol Polymer Company, Zagros Petrochemical Company and Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company had the most negative impact on IFX.

Day Bank gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Iran Fara Bourse, Maadiran Industries Company and Pouya Zarkan Agh Darreh Company.
