Tehran stocks closed trading week Wednesday in positive territory amid increase in the participation of retail investors. Like the past few sessions, small caps were in better shape while most large caps lagged behind.
The benchmark of Tehran Stock Exchange, the market cap-weighted TEDPIX, gained 10,896 points or 0.76% for the day to settle at 1,442,372.
Thanks to the small caps rally, the TSE’s equal-weighted index climbed almost 1.5%. The index gives the same weight to all shares irrespective of their market cap.
Retail trade jumped 27% on the previous session to reach 41.36 trillion rials ($142 million) -- the highest in 40 days. About 7.76 billion shares valued at 50.6 trillion rials ($174.48m) changed hands at TSE for the day.
Trading at TSE and junior equities exchange Iran Fara Bourse starts on Saturday and ends Wednesday.
Alborz Investment Group Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 5.97% to 4,471 rials per share.
Petrochemical Transport Engineering Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 4.11% to 31,720 rials per share.
Mines and Metals Development Investment Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company, Mobin Energy Persian Gulf Company and Jam Petrochemical Company.
Esfahan Oil Refining Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index, followed by Bandar Abbas Oil Refining Company, Mobarakeh Steel Company and Tehran Oil Refining Company.
IFX Up 0.9%
Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, gained 178.26 points or 0.93% to close Wednesday trade at the 19,320. About 4.04 billion shares and securities valued at 57.37 trillion rials ($197.8m) were traded at the junior equities exchange for the day.
Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company, Zagros Petrochemical Company, Melal Credit Institution and Binalood Neyshabur Animal Husbandry and Agriculture Company had the most negative impact on IFX.
Arya Sasol Polymer Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Shiraz Oil Refining Company, Lavan Oil Refining Company and Pasargad Insurance Company.
