Small Caps Rise  

Tehran stocks rebounded on Tuesday to buck a five-day losing streak as small caps were well received by retail investors.  

The equal-weighted index of Tehran Stock Exchange gained close to 1.3% for the day as most penny stocks experienced price rises. 

This is while the TSE's main index, the market cap-weighted TEDPIX, lagged behind and barely gained 0.49% or 6,985.71 points, finishing trade at 1,431,477.

At the close of the session, 124 tickers were in negative territory while 520 others gained, accounting for 81% of the stocks. 

Retail trade amounted to 32.55 trillion rials ($112 million), up 2% on the session before. About 7.58 billion shares worth  51.16 trillion rials ($176.4m) changed hands at TSE for the day.

Niroo Investment Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 5.99% to 2,759 rials per share.

Etebar Iran Investment Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 4.67% to 2,634 rials per share.

Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Mobarakeh Steel Company, Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company and Mines and Metals Development Investment Company.

National Iranian Copper Industries Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index, followed by Nouri Petrochemical Company, Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines Company and Social Security Investment Company.

 

IFX Up 0.8%

Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, gained 151.89 points or 0.8% to close Tuesday trade at the 19,142.

About 3.85 billion shares and securities valued at 78.62 trillion rials ($271m) were traded at the junior equities exchange for the day.

Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company, Negin Software Systems Development Company, Zagros Petrochemical Company and Melal Credit Institution had the most negative impact on IFX.

Arya Sasol Polymer Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Iran Fara Bourse, Iranian Ghadir Iron and Steel Company and Damavand Power Generation Company.
