Tehran stocks opened Saturday on a strong note in the early hours but sell-side pressure returned as the session came to a close.
The main gauge of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, gained more than 5,000 points in early trade before paring the gains later and moving into negative zone.
TEDPIX shed 2,842.67 points and fell 0.2% to end at 1,440,870.18.
The TSE’s equal-weighted index was down 0.6%. The index gives the same weight to all stocks irrespective of their market cap. Retail trade increased 16% to reach 23.51 trillion rials ($76 million).
About 4.76 billion shares worth 29.11 trillion rials ($95m) changed hands at TSE on Saturday.
Tabriz Oil Refining Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 12.99% to 18,220 rials per share.
Tabriz Oil Refining Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Iran Khodro Company, Bandar Abbas Oil Refining Company and Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines Company.
National Iranian Copper Industries Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index, followed by Mobarakeh Steel Company, Pardis Petrochemical Company and Tamin Petroleum and Petrochemical Investment Company.
IFX Up 0.1%
Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, gained 19.7 points or 0.1% to close Saturday trade at the 18,881.
About 2.89 billion shares and securities valued at 87.27 trillion rials ($281m) were traded at the junior equities exchange for the day.
Lavan Oil Refining Company, Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company, Tajali Mines and Metals Development Company and Iranian Ghadir Iron and Steel Company had the most negative impact on IFX.
Shiraz Oil Refining Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Zagros Petrochemical Company, Arya Sasol Polymer Company and MAPNA Asaluyeh Power Generation Company.
