Shares in Tehran opened trading week on Saturday under selloff pressure on majority of stocks, particularly petrochemical companies.
The main index of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, lost 16,596.02 points or 1.06% to end at 1,547,738.
The TSE’s equal-weighted index was down 0.86%, reflecting the performance of small caps.
Downswing was led by sell-side hitting petrochemical stocks, which extended to a broad range of shares. New sanctions on Iran’s petrochemical industries was said to be the main factor influencing selloff pressure, which dragged down the TSE’s Petrochemical Index by 1.8% on Saturday.
