Tehran stocks opened trading week Saturday on a strong note building on previous gains with small caps and penny stocks in the lead.
The main gauge of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, gained 13,961 points and climbed 0.9% to end trade at 1,578,410.
The TSE’s equal-weighted index rose more than 1.4% as small cap stocks rallied.
Retail trade increased sharply by 20% on Saturday from the session before to reach 78.58 trillion rials ($260 million).
About 13.16 billion shares valued at 82.33 trillion rials ($294m) changed hands at TSE for the day.
Trading at TSE and junior equities exchange Iran Fara Bourse starts on Saturday and ends Wednesday.
Seamorgh Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 5.99% to 32,180 rials per share. Ma Insurance Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 5.29% to 5,910 rials per share.
Iran Khodro Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Saipa Automaker Company, Bahman Group Company and National Iranian Copper Industries Company.
Tamin Petroleum and Petrochemical Investment Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index followed by Ghadir Investment Company, Bandar Abbas Oil Refining Company and Parsian Oil and Gas Development Group Company.

Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, gained 181.05 points or 0.85 % to close Saturday trade at 21,576.
About 4.28 billion shares and securities valued at 50.68 trillion rials ($181m) were traded at the junior equities exchange for the day.
Kerman Province Development Investment Company had the highest number of traded shares as 296.43 million of its shares worth 273.54 billion rials ($976,939) were traded.
Arya Sasol Polymer Company, Iran Fara Bourse, Bahman Diesel Company and Melal Credit Institution had the most negative impact on IFX.
Zagros Petrochemical Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company, Hormozgan Steel Company and Minoo Industrial Group Company.
