The Tehran stock market saw choppy trade on Sunday opening in negative territory before improving in the middle of the session.
The main index of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, gained 7,413.08 points or 0.51% to end trading at 1,475,058.55.
Small caps and penny stocks were the top winners, pushing up the TSE’s equal-weighted index slightly higher at close to 0.9%.
Retail trade surged 18% from the session before to reach 59.11 trillion rials ($218 million).
About 10.8 billion shares valued at 63.37 trillion rials ($226 m) changed hands at TSE for the day.
Iran Darou Pharmaceutical Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 5% to 16,170 rials per share.
Mellat Insurance Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 4.64% to 1,460 rials per share.
Iran Khodro Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Chadormalu Mining And Industrial Company, Mines and Metals Development Investment Company and the carmaker Saipa.
Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index followed by Nouri Petrochemical Company, Ghadir Investment Company and Tamin Petroleum and Petrochemical Investment Company.

Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, gained 147.58 points or 0.73 % to close Sunday trade at 20,390. About 3.52 billion shares and securities worth 63.71 trillion rials ($227m) were traded at the junior exchange for the day.
Kerman Province Development Investment Company had the highest number of traded shares as 266.5 million of its shares worth 225.14 billion rials ($804,082) were traded.
Sepehr Saderat Financial Group Investment Company, Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company, Kowsar Insurance Company and Tajali Mines and Metals Development Company had the most negative impact on IFX.
Arya Sasol Polymer Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company, Marun Petrochemical Company and Mehr Ayandegan Financial Development Group Company.
