Tehran stocks turned choppy on Tuesday as most shares rallied in the middle of the trading session and crept into the positive zone
The main gauge of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, pared all the early hour losses and closed 0.18% higher, gaining 2,619 points to finish at 1,471,438.
Small caps outperformed pushing up the TSE’s equal-weighted index by close to 0.7%.
At the close of the day, 204 tickers dropped but winners outnumbered reaching 287 tickers, accounting for 58% of the total.
Compared with the session before, retail trade dropped 28% to reach 58.69 trillion rials ($217 million). Retail investors were the main sellers of shares on Tuesday registering net capital outflow worth 80 billion rials.
About 11.61 billion shares valued at 63.18 trillion rials ($234 m) changed hands at TSE for the day.
Mines and Metals Development Investment Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by the Social Security Investment Company, Mobarakeh Steel Company and Mellat Bank.
Esfahan Oil Refining Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index followed by Telecommunication Company of Iran, MAPNA Group and Mobile Telecommunication Company of Iran.
The main index of Iran Fara Bourse, IFX, gained 91.73 points or 0.47 % to close Tuesday trade at 19,781.
About 3.765 billion shares and securities valued at 25.772 trillion rials ($95m) were traded at the junior equity exchange for the day.
