A new chief has been appointed to the Central Insurance company of Iran, the sector's regulatory body, months after the resignation of the previous CEO.
According to the government's website, Majid Behzadpour replaces Gholamreza Soleimani, who left in December.
Behzadpour was formerly head of the Bodily Injury Indemnity Fund, affiliated to the CII, which  compensates bodily injury in different insurance sectors.
He is a known figure in the domestic insurance industry having served in key positions at the CII, namely as deputy for resource management plus deputy for financial affairs.
He holds an MA in Systems Management from Sharif University of Technology and another MA in Urban and Regional Planning from Shahid Beheshti University.
The insurance sector has seemingly welcomed the appointment, considering Behzadpour's experience  and his familiarity with the industry's main challenges. However, market analysts are concerned about major shifts in CII policies in recent years under Soleimani's stewardship such as increasing the number of insurance companies and regulating startups.
